The aurora borealis and its powerful and stunning display of moving lights and vibrant colors has inspired countless stories throughout history. Many of these legends and folklore tales involve spirits and ancestral displays of dancing lights. Even today many of these legends hold a significant and important role in different tribes and cultural pass downs through family history and traditions. Some cultures still fully believe there is a connection between these lights and their history, even despite scientific evidence of the technical causes. In this website I will go over different cultures in different parts of the world and the similarities and differences between their tales of the northern lights, as well as describe the scientific side of the story.
